Packaging Recommendations

1. Use a Strong Outer Box

• Double-walled, corrugated fiberboard rated for international express shipping.
• Wooden crates or flight cases are recommended for very delicate or heavy goods.
• Avoid reused boxes if they are weakened.

2. Internal Cushioning

• Minimum 5–7 cm (2–3 inches) of cushioning material (foam, bubble wrap, air cell, or polyethylene foam) on all sides.
• The goods must not touch the box walls.
• Use custom-cut foam inserts or suspension packaging for high-precision instruments/Goods.
• Goods should handle a drop of 1 meter.

3. Seal Properly

• Use strong pressure-sensitive tape (minimum 5 cm wide) on all seams.
• Do not use string or paper overwrap.

4. Orientation & Labeling

• If it’s temperature-sensitive, you’ll need special service booking.
• Remove or cover old labels/barcodes.
• “Fragile” labels can be added, but DHL/UPS/Fedex warns that all parcels are handled the same way mechanically at terminals.

5. Insurance / Declared Value

• For high-value goods, CLX strongly recommends declared value coverage or cargo insurance.
• They may require professional packaging for claims to be valid. DHL/UPS/Fedex requires “adequate packaging” for damage claims to be valid.

6. Dangerous Goods, Who is authorized to pack dangerous goods?

• Only trained and certified personnel are permitted to pack dangerous goods for air, road, or sea transport. Regulations such as IATA DGR (air), ADR (road), and IMDG (sea) require that anyone preparing or packing dangerous goods has completed approved training and holds valid certification. This ensures that the goods are packed, marked, and documented in full compliance with international safety standards.

⚠️ Important: Courier companies states that improperly packed shipments may void damage claims (Insurance will be void). If it’s very sensitive or expensive, if you are not sure how to pack your goods, you contact CLX and get advise how to pack it OR get help with packing mtrl from CLX.
